The Tower of London___Founded by William the Conqueror in 11th century as a symbol of his power. Later known as a prison of royal enemies. Lots of nobles, including Anne Boleyn, Queen Elizabeth's mother, got their heads cut off here.

The place we visited for the first after we checked in a hotel was the Tower of London. The hotel was located in south Kensington, so we got on the underground from Gloucester Road station and got off at Tower Hill station.

We walked in the tower buildings looking at the displays. I got mostly interested in the medieval armouries which made me remember Ainsworth's novel depicting the bloodful fights among the royal members.
