After the lunch, we walked along the road by the south bank of Thames and got across the river through London Bridge to the north side again. I saw ahead an old tower. The tower was the monument of the Great Fire in 1666. It had narrow spiral stairs in it. I paid the serviceman a 20 pence coin and stepped up the stairs with my son to take a view of London. In the north side of the monument, there spreaded the city of London. We visited the Bank of England and the Royal Stock Exchange building. I was interested in the people walking around there. Many of them were dressed in mourning suits and put on top hats. |
